Experience |
- Harry started his career in academics, working as INCAE Professor, Academic Director and Rector (1970-1976, 1981) and Harvard Business School Associate Professor (1976-1979)
- He wrote the book “The Role of Family Business Group in Economic Development” and more than 50 cases and business notes in banking, finance, international business and strategy
- In 1979, Dr. Strachan joined Bain & Company Boston and was Partner from 1979 to 1998 and continues active part time with Bain and Bain Capital. He is also a founding partner of Mesoamerica Investments
- His experience at Bain and Mesoamerica has been in a variety of sectors: financial services, retailing & distribution, consumer products & beverages, information services & software, light & heavy industries, airlines, hotels & tourism, medical services & pharmaceuticals, agribusiness
- Harry has experience in several fields including business strategy development, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions
- A significant block of his time is devoted to pro bono activities through various foundations, educational institutions and associations, including Strachan Foundation, CRUSA Foundation, INCAE, ESEN, CENAT, Hospital Clínica Bíblica, AmCham and CCAA
