Experience

  • Luis Javier started his career as an associate in Bain & Co, working on strategy assignments for several of the largest companies in Central America
  • In 1996, he was one of the founders of the first private equity fund in Central America, Mesoamerica Fund I, L.P.
  • From 1998-03, he was CEO of Mesoamerica Telecom LTD., organizing, raising and supervising the - at that time - largest private equity initiative in the region
  • In 1999, he acted as one of the four founding partners for Mesoamerica Investments
  • He has had experience at Bain and Mesoamerica in a variety of sectors, including financial services, retailing, beverages, airlines, hotels & tourism and agribusiness
  • Luis Javier has led projects in several fields with a special focus and expertise in mergers and acquisitions and private equity investments
  • He devotes significant time to pro bono activities through various foundations, educational institutions and associations. He is founder of the Mesoamerica Foundation, president of the Asociación de Empresarios para el Desarrollo (AED), chairman of the board of the Costa Rican chapter of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO), Aspen Institute CALI fellow, Paniamor Foundation board member and president emeritus of AMARTE (Friends of the Costa Rican Museum of Art)
